I'm looking to get into building guitars, and my Composite Acoustics guitar (my only guitar) needs refretting. Would this be a good job to see if I like working on guitars or should I drop the $500 and have a professional do it? What are the pros/cons? And what is the best resource out there to walk me through this? Thanks!! Gabe |

Not a great idea to learn repair or building on a guitar that costs thousands of dollars, and especially your only axe. Refretting is an advanced skill - and carbon will be more specialized than a wood guitar. Why do you think it needs refretting? Might only need a fret level. |

Have a pro do it. If you want to learn to refret I'd get a Yamaha or something I wouldn't mind messing up and learn on it. |

Perfect. All I needed to hear. I play rather heavily, and my local luthier said that I need my guitar re-fretted. I've worn several of them close to the fretboard. |

OK, then - good luck, and keep on whacking those strings! |
